About Us

joseph.jpgBreak Away Technologies is a 501(c)(3) organization located in the Jefferson Park area of Los Angeles that was founded by Joseph Loeb in 1992 after the civil unrest in South Central Los Angeles. We are committed to our community and its residents and focus our efforts and resources on bridging the digital divide.  We believe that digital technologies are tools that real people in real neighborhoods can use to connect with jobs, health services, essential information and services, and to power their futures in the emerging marketplace

 

We are excited because we are launching our new programs with youth from 8 to 21 this fall.  The 100 youth participants will include (25) 16-18 year olds enrolled in the first phase of their employable skills program that will continue through Spring, 2002.  Break Away will be hosting a plethora of programs for afterschool and at-risk youth in our new Intel Computer Clubhouse* and BreakAway Discovery Center.  The programming includes the following:
